DPT
- University of Massachusetts – Amherst: Bachelors in Kinesiology
- Northeastern University: Doctorate of Physical Therapy
Born and raised on Cape Cod, Laurel’s interest in Physical Therapy was sparked at the age of 14 when she was a patient due to athletics injury. She started working at a local PT clinic throughout high school and college. From there she had her mind set on becoming a Physical Therapist.
While studying kinesiology at UMass Amherst, she was a student athlete on the women’s rowing team. Her love of sports and passion for PT was brought together after two hip surgeries, further confirming she was on the right career path. She continued her education at Northeastern University where she completed co-op and clinicals in various settings and patient populations. This included a co-op at Massachusetts General Hospital and three clinical rotations; Cape Cod Orthopedics in Hyannis, Summit Orthopedics in Bethesda, MD and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. These rotations gave her a variety of experiences from critical care in an ICU to outpatient orthopedics, in every setting finding a way to connect with patients and help them achieve their goals.
Outside of the clinic, you can find Laurel enjoying the Cape beaches, traveling, and trying new recipes and restaurants. She is often training for local road races from 5k to marathons.
